European Championships 2026 RECAP: 17 MEDALS FOR TEAM ENGLAND!

he 2026 AETF European Taekwon-Do Championships have come to a close, and what an unforgettable week it has been for ITF England. From the opening ceremony to the final bow, our squad demonstrated world-class technical skill, grit, and sportsmanship.


We are incredibly proud to announce that ITF England has finished in 6th place in the overall medal table, marking this as one of our most successful European campaigns to date. 👉 You can view the full list of medal winners here!


The Final Count

Against the toughest competition on the continent, ITF England secured an incredible 6th place in the overall medal table. With a squad ranging from seasoned Seniors to first-time Pre-Juniors, the team collected a total of 17 medals:

  • 🥇 7 Gold

  • 🥈 5 Silver

  • 🥉 5 Bronze


🥇 The Gold Standard (Champions)

Standing on the top step of the podium is the result of years of sacrifice. Our seven European Champions proved they are the best on the continent:

  • Isabel Brider (ETA): Senior Female 4th to 6th Degree Patterns

  • Ellena Lobley (AETA): Senior Female 3rd Degree Patterns

  • Gabrielle Lear (AETA): Pre-Junior Female 48-52kg Sparring

  • Matthew Osterloh (AETA): Pre-Junior Male Special Technique

  • Jake Brown (PUMA): Junior Male Special Technique

  • Sophie Knapp & Gabrielle Lear (AETA): Pre-Junior Pre-Arranged Sparring

  • Junior Female Team Power: Ruby King, Charlene Tracy Contreras, Faye Hubbuck, Elliane Reader, Eloise Jenkins, and Chloe Charteris.



🥈 Silver Success

Finals at this level are often decided by the narrowest of margins. Huge congratulations to our Silver medalists:

  • Alfie Andrews (2 Strong Taekwon-Do): Pre-Junior Male Sparring 45-50kg

  • Isabel Brider (ETA): Senior Female 50-55kg Sparring

  • Jake Brown (PUMA): +75kg Junior Male Sparring

  • Gabrielle Lear (AETA): Pre-Junior Female 1st Degree Patterns

  • Chloe Charteris (AETA): Junior Female Power


🥉 Bronze Brilliance

Battling through tough brackets to secure a podium spot is a massive feat. Our Bronze medalists showed incredible heart:

  • Li-Lian Ahlskog Hou (Londinium Fighters): Senior Female 50-55kg Sparring

  • Ruby King (AETA): Junior Female 53-57kg Sparring

  • Jay Pringle (ETA): 50-55kg Junior Male Sparring

  • Alfie Andrews (2 Strong Taekwon-Do): Pre-Junior Male 2nd & 3rd Degree Patterns

  • Junior Female Team Patterns: Ruby King, Charlene Tracy Contreras, Faye Hubbuck, Elliane Reader, Eloise Jenkins, and Chloe Charteris.

A tournament isn't just about the medals; it's about individual excellence and professional standards.

  • 🏆 Pre-Juniors Success: A historic achievement for our youngest stars—ITF England finished as the 3rd Overall Country for Pre-Juniors!

  • 🌟 Gabrielle Lear: Awarded the prestigious title of Overall Best Pre-Junior Female.

  • ⚖️ The Officials: A massive congratulations to Mr. Adam Swain, who was recognized as one of only six umpires for their Excellence in Officiating throughout the event. We also thank Master Anthony McKenna for his tireless work on the mats.
